The Monkey Town Primate Centre is situated just outside of Somerset West on the N2. Monkey Town is home to over 230 individual primates, with 27 different species in total. Some of these species include the Old World Primates from Africa and Asia - Lion Tailed Macaques, Chimpanzees, Hamadryas Baboons and even our very own native Vervet Monkey. There are New World Primates from South America - these interesting animals range from the Spider Monkey, Squirrel Monkey and tiny Pygmy Marmoset to a pair of White Handed Gibbons. There is also a touch farmyard, koi ponds, many bird species and small antelope on the premises.
Monkey Town prides itself being different to the rest! Their primates roam free whilst visitors can view them from an enclosed walkway snaking through the park. This caged walkway allows for the primates to be seen but no human actually intrudes on their living space.
Take the opportunity to be hugged by a monkey in the interaction area and much more.
Spend the day at the monkey jungle fun park with eye-catching rock swimming pool, water slides, jumping castle, trampoline, play park with braai venue. Bush pub with restaurant on premises.
