Stellenbosch has some of the finest restaurants in the Cape Wine lands. Including Rust en Vrede, Terrior, Guardian Peak and Overture which are all regulars in the award winning top 10 restaurants in South Africa.

Stellenbosch offers a wide range of dinning experiences, from light meals and picnics next to the Eerste river to sophisticated fine dinning, food and wine pairing and international cuisine.

The sole, authentic Indonesian restaurant in the whole of South Africa. Conveniently situated on the five-hectare Sunhill Estate in the Stellenbosch winelands district, it has greatly contributed in raising the town's culinary reputation.

If it's your first visit you'll note something unique about the atmosphere. Well, it's as if Duncan, his wife Veronica and their dedicated staff love food and antiques more than they like money. You don't often experience that at restaurants.

Flavors are never in short supply at Jakarta. The flavour actually locks into the authentic Indonesian cuisine served in the world-renowned Rijsttafel (rice table) style.

A note to the newcomer: Think rice. Think spicy side dishes served buffet-style. Think sambals, satay, fish, fruit, vegetables, pickles, nuts, chillies, coconut milk, prawns, chicken, beef and veal. It's basically a Dutch-colonial adaptation of the Indonesian makan besar (food fair).

Great views, fires for cold days, play area for kids (that also does not disturb those without kids). The restaurant is situated in the pine forest previously known as "Louw se Bos", fondly remembered by long term Stellenboschers as a romantic picnic site. The telephone directory contains a long and illustrious list of household names whose relationships were forged out of romantic courtships that blossomed beneath the pines.

An extensive menu offers an impressive selection of starters ranging from the standard Shrimp Cocktail to Beef and Ostrich Carpaccio. Patrons are hard pressed to make a choice for main course with plenty of pizzas and classic pasta dishes such as the Carbonara and Marinara as well as the house speciality - La Pineta with bacon, chicken and mushrooms in a creamy tomato sauce. All pasta dishes are available with either Fettucini, Penne or Spaghetti. Seafood lovers can enjoy a Mixed Seafood Platter for two which offers a generous selection of seafood at a very affordable price. Great care is taken with the Steaks to ensure that they are grilled to satisfaction with six grades of cooking available and a choice of sauces to complement your meat. Popular specialties include the Lamb’s Neck which is slow casseroled in the pizza oven, and the pan-fried Springbok Fillets served with a blueberry sauce.

The original cellar, a National Monument, has been converted and our kitchen is placed “front and centre”, thus creating an ambiance that is relaxed but vibey. We take pride in the fact that time was taken with well known potter, David Walters, to create the crockery, handcrafted Riedel stemware was selected and Laguiole knives purchased, to give you an experience you won’t soon forget.

Under the starlit African sky, set in a garden in the Western Cape Winelands, moyo at Spier is unlike any other restaurant. Bedouin tents and gazebos are placed throughout the garden and create a setting similar to a nomadic African village. This unexpected delight in the Winelands is set to the humming and ululating voices of Third World Bunfight, a performance company known for pushing the boundaries of African art to the limits.  A Pan-African buffet serves coconut, rose petal, pumpkin and sweet potato breads from Egypt to Ghana with spicy dukka and harissa dips.
