Groot Drakenstein Prison
The Groot Drakenstein correctional facility is a working prison and was the last place in which Nelson Mandela was incarcerated and it was through these gates, that Mandela walked to freedom in 1990.
Heen en Weer, Ostrich Farm, Paarl
Previously indigenous inhabitants of this part of the world, these ostriches are now being farmed for profit. Heen en Weer has between 300 and 350 birds at any one time. Take a 45-minute tour and learn all about these flightless birds. Buy an ostrich egg and you can make an 8-person omelette!
Mooiberg Farm - Fruit picking
Strawberry fields and scarecrows aplenty await pickers in the Cape summer season.

Eagle Encounters Raptor Rehabilitation Centre
Eagle Encounters is a bird of prey rehabilitation, education, conservation and eco-tourism centre. Experienced handlers await you in the Touching Gallery to facilitate your personal encounter.
The Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre
The Giraffe House includes African animals such as the giraffe, ostriches, eland, crocodiles, buffalo, springbok, zebra and much much more including birds and reptiles.
Butterfly World
A tropical garden in a 1000 m2 green house - making the free flying exotic butterflies feel right at home.
Le Bonheur Crocodile House
Over a thousand crocs are housed in dams. Visitors have an opportunity to touch and hold a baby croc, and during summer months, have the opportunity to witness the feeding of the bigger crocs.
Monkey Town Primate Centre
Monkey Town is home to over 230 individual primates, with 27 different species in total. Take the opportunity to be hugged by a monkey in the interaction area and much more.
Wiesenhof Wildpark
A nature lover's paradise in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Game view, picnic, fish, drive the 4x4 routes, mountain bike or explore the Cape.
Afrikaans Language Monument, Paarl
The Taal monument, on Paarl rock, is one of the most famous Afrikaans monuments erected in South Africa and dedicated to the Afrikaans language.
Wijnland Auto Museum
The Wijnland Auto Museum displays South Africa's largest collection of classic and vintage automobiles, with 400 vehicles, including vintage cars, convertibles and Word War II military vehicles.
