Methode Cap Classique Tour |
Champagne can be drunk at any time of the day – there’s always an excuse for a celebration!
“Champagne” is known as Méthode Cap Classique in South Africa. Of course South Africa cannot use the name Champagne as this is derived from the region of France where the original bubbles came from. A classic Méthod Cap Classique has a nose that will remind you of delicious shortcake biscuity flavours with hints of fruitiness and a dry finish. You'll start inventing celebrations just so you can open a bottle of South Africa’s Méthod Cap Classique.
Méthode Cap Classique may be made from one or more of three grape varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Wines made from these grape varieties are subjected to the so-called méthode champenoise – essentially involving a second fermentation inside the bottle in which they are sold.
Join Tsiba Tsiba Wine Tours on the exclusive Méthode Cap Classique Tour and discover some of the best bubbles the Cape has to offer.
Estates vary, but may include:
- The estate responsible for South Africa's first bottle fermented Méthode Cap Classique
- The first estate to dedicate itself to wines made according to the Methode Cap Classique
- A boutique winery producing a limited amount of Cap Classique Brut and Brut Rose and associated with Epernay in France – allowing access to French champagne in this South Africa’s “French Corner”
- Something slightly different – this blend of Pinotage and Chenin Blanc is a unique offering to the Cape wine scene. Packed with bubbly freshness and classic Méthode Champenoise complexities it's everything you'd expect from a Méthod Cap Classique.
Tour includes:
- Collection and drop-off at your accommodation
- Wine / MCC tastings at 4-5 wine estates
- Champagne Cellar tour
- Lunch (lunch at own cost) on a wine estate
Méthode Cap Classique – the stuff of passion and celebration!
